The Sunrise celebration may look like a music festival... but it’s actually a true green gathering; an outdoor expo where thousands of people can come for a long weekend to swap ideas about alternative ways to live and be. The first Celebrations took place in 2006 and each year since then, thousands have come from all over the UK to explore the possibilities of a more sustainable culture. . 

 

The rather sorry pictures you see on this page are from 2008, when the festival suffered from flash flooding so intense that the event had to be cancelled on the very day it was due to open. The event was not insured and, though the Big Chill kindly stepped in with a ticket swap offer for disappointed ticketholders, the company behind Sunrise were forced to go into liquidation.

 

In 2009, a new management company were formed out of people sympathetic to the festival's cause. They became a CIC, a special kind of company that donates profits to charity, and with some help from The Inspiration Foundation, Sunrise put on a very successful event. Even the weather proved supportive! 5,000 people attended and the crisis of the previous year soon became a memory.

 

In 2010, the team behind Sunrise have organised the entire event as a fundraising venture for Inspiration Foundation. The directors of Natural Communities, CIC have worked closely with the trustees of the Inspiration Foundation to make the event truly exceptional; a testimony to the spirit of Sunrise and an awareness raiser for the work of Inspiration Foundation. All proceeds will go to the foundation... who consider the ethos behind this not-for-profit, pioneering event to be absolutely in keeping with the core aims of their consciousness raising charity. To all the artists, musicians, performers and explorers of the ancient earth mysteries who have contributed their efforts to this event... and to all the people who have supported Inspiration Foundation by purchasing a ticket to Sunrise, we say... a heartfelt thank you!
